National final songs, artist and dates - all you need to know


So there has been a LOT of activity already for Eurovision 2019 and it can be hard to keep up with the latest songs and national final dates.

Below is a summary of the artists or songs confirmed, where national finals and nations are at, and what dates you need to keep in mind.

Artists confirmed for Eurovision

Albania

Albania’s national final has been held and was won by Jonida Malaqi with ‘Ktheju Tokes’. You can get the details and see her winning song here.

Armenia

Armenia have internally selected their contestant Srbuk. You can view her music here (though her song has yet to be released): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoPGm_XKIb-QsENTlasnTCQ/featured

Cyprus

Cyprus have announced Tamta will represent them after being internally selected. Alex P, who was responsible for Fuego and La La Love, is the writer and producer of the song. What’s happening in January?

5th – Lithuania

Eurovizija heats begin. There are 49 songs that will take part in four heats.

7th – Czech Republic

Artists announced with national final to happen within January

12th – France

Destination Eurovision – Semi Final One

(19 – Semi Final Two and 26 - Final)

19th – Hungary

A Dal – Heat One

21st – San Marino

Artist and song announcement

25th – Norway

Artists and songs for Melodi Grand Prix announced. MGP final will be 2 March.

26th – Malta

X Factor final – The Maltese entry this year will be the winner of their X Factor competition. They are down to 12 acts.

28th – Eurovision semi final allocation draw

31st – Estonia

First semi final of Eesti Laul – Estonia’s National Final.

(2 February – Second Semi Final and 16 February – the final)

TBC January

Spain

Spain released snippets of 17 songs that the Spanish public and jury voted on and 10 have made it through to their Eurovision Gala. The date of the gala is TBC.

Other nations with artists and songs announced

Australia

Seven artists have been announced so far (Sheppard, Kate Miller-Heidke, Mark Vincent, Electric Fields, Aydan, Courtney Act and Leea Nanos).

We would expect the next three artists and all remaining songs will be released in January.

Italy

The artists for Sanremo have been announced (including Il Volo) and the final of the contest (where the winning artist can choose to go to Eurovision) takes place on the 9 February. Artist details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest_2019

Latvia

Latvia held a public and jury vote to reduce an original shortlist of 33 songs down to 16. These were announced in December and you can view all 16 songs here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R837qZLFsXA&list=PLXUoUkVrvITFUHRLMETUEpoCLXdZdXOyB

Their national final, Supernova, will take place in February.

Montenegro

Romania

Sweden

Melodifestivalen will take place in February, and although we won’t hear any songs before the live shows, the artists have all been announced including some familiar faces.
