The national finals for the Eurovision 2025 season have well and truly wrapped up.
The Aussievision team has looked back on the season and voted for their favourite selection shows of 2025.
Each team member voted for their top five, with five points for first, 4 for second, and so on, with 1 point for fifth.
Here are the results:
Aussievision's Top 10 National Finals of 2025
(tiebreaks decided by most five points, then the most four points and so on)
10. Portugal - Festival da Canção (6 points)
Festival da Canção always brings high quality songs that are very different from what we see from across Europe. This year included a high quality final with a diverse range of songs, an interval act covering The Code that needs to be seen to be believed and it was all co-hosted by fan-favourite Filomena Cautela.
To end the process, we saw a shock result with favourites Josh and Fernando beaten by Napa in a shock result.
9. Italy - Sanremo Music Festival (6 points)
Last year's winner with the Aussievision team drops to 9th. Although there were still quality songs this year and a deserved winner in Olly (despite a shock result for Giorgia), it felt like under Carlo Conti the festival had regressed a little to cater to a more "traditional" edition.
8. Belgium - Eurosong (9 points)
With broadcaster VRT taking the reigns this year, Eurosong was back after the last edition of 2023.
With a line-up of quality songs from Red Sebastian, Mentissa, Leez and more plus excellent production and interesting staging, it was a welcome return.
7. Estonia - Eesti Laul (10 points)
Eesti Laul can sometimes bit hit and miss but this year certainly was a quality edition. The super final of Tommy Cash, An-Marlen and Andrei Zevakin feat. Karita felt like the right top three.
Tommy Cash, who was supported by Käärijä took out the win comfortably.
6. Spain - Benidorm Fest (11 points)
Despite many fans feeling like it wasn't as strong as previous years, Benidorm Fest is still a fan-favourite.
Melody with her iconic performance (including hair twirl) took out the win despite a missed note in the semi. She was backed up with quality performances from Daniela Blasco, J Kbello and Mel Ömana.
The hosts, including Ruth Lorenzo, did a stellar job, there were great interval acts (including Rigoberta Bandini) and the crowd was as heavily involved as ever.
5. Finland - UMK (12 points)
Finland's UMK chooses quality over quantity and that was very much the case this year.
Only six songs competing due to the disqualification of One Morning Left. However, the quality of the songs and the production was second-to-none.
Add in a very popular winner in Erika Vikman and a return performance from Windows95man and it's clear why this made our top five.
4. Poland - Wielki finał polskich kwalifikacji
Poland's national selections can be controversial, drawn-out and not of the highest quality.
But not this year.
There were 11 great acts with top quality staging and a popular winner in returning Eurovision artist from 1995 Justyna Steczkowska.
Michał Szpak co-hosted and also performed an impeccable interval act.
A great year for Poland!
3. Latvia - Supernova (19 points)
Not a national final that usually makes our list but the Aussievision team got right behind Supernova.
It featured a diverse and quality final line-up (including Citi Zēni), top production and some inventive staging.
Tautumeitas came out as a popular but somewhat surprising winner in a three-way-tie. They won the selection through the tiebreak of the highest public vote.
2. Malta - Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC) - (26 points)
Some may feel this vote is inflated by Miriana Conte's Kant but MESC brought out so much more than that.
The production and staging quality seemed to double from previous editions and there were some quality entries from Kristy Spiteri and Kantera.
The jury vote was a highlight in itself of members either shouting out Kant or trying to wrap their mouths around
Lalaratatakeke Lalaratakabum.
There was also a very popular winner. This all helped cope with the long running time and the many, many, many adverts.
1. Sweden - Melodifestivalen (37 points)
After finishing 5th in our 2024 ranking, Sweden's Melfest goes straight to number one this year.
It was excellently hosted by Edvin and Keyyo (with the usual "Swedish humour") and featured quality songs and production all-round.
We had the fascinating face-off between Måns and Kaj, the quality of Greczula and fan-favourites Dolly Style, Meira Omar and Klara Hammarström in the final.
Eurovision royalty Petra Mede also made an appearance performing a song for the gays in the final.
It was all sealed with a surprise revolutionary win for Kaj.
Tack Sweden for an amazing show!
So there you have it, Sweden's Melfest was clearly the Aussievision team's favourite national final of 2025!
The remaining positions were:
11. Ireland -6
12. Ukraine - 6
13. Luxembourg - 4
14. Albania - 4
15. Lithuania - 3
16. Greece - 3
17. Germany - 2
17. San Marino - 2
17. Montenegro - 2
20. Slovenia - 1
20. Denmark - 1
All other national finals did not get a point.
