Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am married to my wonderful wife Yvonne and have a 33-year-old daughter - Sarah.

I work as a Customer Account Coordinator for a stocktaking company and I am fortunate enough to be able to continue working from home in my role, whereas many other workplaces have had to return to the office.

My interests are long-distance trail walking, travelling and doing weekly 5km park runs (of which both Yvonne and I walk them, as we are not runners).

I am actively involved in the IML Walking Association where I am the Vice President of the Pan-Pacific region encompassing Australia, New Zealand, Asia, USA & Canada.

We normally travel overseas for walking at least once or twice a year, of which the timing has made it difficult in being able to attend a Eurovision Song Contest.

I am a keen sports follower, supporting the Carlton AFL football club as well as watching cricket & horse racing.

I am also a keen Sci-Fi series watcher, my favourite show being Doctor Who, as I have watched all of the available shows from the first Doctor back in 1963 up until the recent 2024 Christmas special.

What is your Eurovision journey?

I remember as a young child when Abba won Eurovision in 1974 as my parents were big fans of ABBA which translated on to me. I used to also watch Eurovision on SBS in the early days and my interest in Eurovision became even more apparent from 2015 onwards when Australia joined the competition.

My wife also enjoys Eurovision as much as I do and each May when the Eurovision Grand Final is on, we get up early Sunday morning to watch the show live in conjunction with many of our European friends and we exchange lots of fun banter via social media on each artists performance.

Do you have any affinity to nations other than Australia?

None as such.

Any Aussievision highlights?

My Aussievision journey has only just begun. I have only been an Aussievision contributor since July 2024, but I thoroughly enjoy writing articles for National Finals and other Eurovision subject matter. I also enjoy participating in the regular team rankings for upcoming National Finals.

Becoming an Aussievision contributor has also expanded my Eurovision knowledge. I have learnt so much listening to and reading other Aussievision team members' articles and hopefully, in the near future, I will get to meet up with many of the Aussievision team in person.

Quick questions on Eurovision entries

Best winner:

Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelulah (2006)

Favourite three non-Australian entries:

Baby Lasagna - Rim Tim Tagi Dim (2024). Loreen - Euphoria (2012) & Diodato - Fai Rumore (2020)

Favourite Australian entry:

Dami Im - Sound of Silence (2016)

Makes you dance:

Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up (1981), Gina G - Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit (1996), Kaarija - Cha Cha Cha (2023) & Kaleen - We Will Rave (2024)

Favourite non-qualifier:

Reddi - The Show (2022). Both my wife and I really enjoyed this song from 2022 and felt that this entry from Denmark should have qualified.

Favourite Eurovision year:

Hard to pick as there has been so many - 1974, 2006, 2019 & 2024. If 2020 had not been cancelled due to the pandemic, that would have been an epic contest.

Favourite national finals:

I enjoy all national finals (in particular Uuden Musikiin Kilpailu (Finland), Melodi Grand Prix (Norway) &, Melodifestivalen (Sweden).

I get to watch and listen to songs that don't actually qualify for Eurovision, many of which I enjoy more than the actual national final winners. I do wish that Australia would return to having Australia Decides as the few years they happened, it was awesome.

Favourite national final songs:

Annalisa - Sinceramente (2024), TrollfesT - Dance Like A Pink Flamingo (2022), Klara Hammarstrom - Run To The Hills (2022), Jaguar Jonze - Rabbit Hole (2020) & Erika Vikman - Ich Komme (2025)
