Australia will not be competing at Junior Eurovision 2024 in Spain.
Both the ABC and SBS have recently confirmed to Spanish Eurovision site Euro Festivales that they have ruled out taking part in this year's contest to be held in Spain.
Both networks have previously been involved in Australia's participation in the contest and the television broadcast. Up until 2016, SBS had broadcast the show every year since the contest began in 2003. They also coordinated Australia's first two appearances in 2015 and 2016.
From 2017-2019 the broadcast and coordination moved to ABC channel ABC ME before Australia's withdrawal in 2020 due to COVID travel restrictions.
Unfortunately neither network has broadcast the contest since Australia's withdrawal however Australians have been able to watch the show via the official Junior Eurovision YouTube account.
Australia managed to finish no lower than 8th place during our five appearances in the contest. Our equal best result was 3rd place achieved by Isabella Clarke in 2017 and Jael Wena in 2018.
Junior Eurovision will be held in Spain later this year with the host city and dates still to be confirmed.

This is also quite unfortunate. They should go compete. Fnaf
Both ABC and SBS, networks that previously played significant roles in Australia's involvement and broadcast of the contest, have decided not to participate this year. Despite Australia's impressive track record, including top finishes and notable performances, neal fun fans will miss their presence in Spain. It's a disappointment to hear that Australia will not be participating in Junior Eurovision 2024.
