Earlier today Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 took place in Copenhagen, with Ben & Tan winning the selection with their entry ‘Yes’. The duo from eastern Denmark won their regional semi-final back in January, resulting in their selection for the final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020, in which they beat out a ten entry field to win the Danish Eurovision spot.
They won the Superfinal with 61% of the vote ahead of Sander Sanchez with 'Screens' on 20% and Emil with 'Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig' on 19%.
Tan & Ben, otherwise known as Tanne Amanda Balcells and Benjamin Rosenbohm, are relatively experienced at just 22 and 17 years old respectively, having both competed on the Danish version of ‘X Factor’ last year where they separately placed within the top 4.
Bring a wealth of Eurovision experience to the entry are the songwriters: Emil Lei, Jimmy Jansson, Linnea Deb, two of which have previously sent entries to Eurovision.
Emil Lei of Denmark helped co-write Leonora entry ‘Love Is Forever’ (Denmark 2019), whereas Swede Linnea Deb previously helped composed the Swedish Eurovision winner 'Heroes' performed by singer Måns Zelmerlöw.
Denmark have qualified for the Grand Final nine out of the last 11 attempts and they will be hoping Ben & Tan can do the same in Rotterdam.
