Denmark: Sissal wins Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025

Sissal has won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025 with their song Hallucination and will represent Denmark at Eurovision in Basel in May. Sissal triumphed over Tim Schou and Adel the Second in the Superfinal.


The results of the Superfinal were:

  1. Sissal – Hallucination - Jury: 20, Public: 18. 38 points

  2. Tim Schou – Proud - Jury: 14, Public: 23. 37 points

  3. Adel the Second – The Unluckiest Boy Alive - Jury: 16, Public: 9. 25 points



At the conclusion of the first round, the following were eliminated:

Mariya – I Belong To Me

Max Ulver – Supernova

Hervé Toure – Allez allez

Maria Mathea – Air

Andreas Kruse – Hear My Prayer

Denmark will compete in the second half of the second semi-final at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.


The contest was televised by broadcaster DR and hosted by Sara Bro and Stéphanie Surrugue at Boxen in Herning which is located in Central Denmark.


Last year's winner, SABA performed Sand as part of the interval along with Dansk Melodi Grand Prix legend Birthe Kjær who placed third at Eurovision 1989 in Lausanne. Kjær previously placed second at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1980, 1986 and 1987. She also finished in third place in 1991. The interval also featured a retrospective of Danish music legend, Tommy Seabach. He represented Denmark at Eurovision three times- 1979, 1981 and 1979. A movie about his life, Under Stjernerne På Himlen (Under the Stars in the Sky) starring Anders Matthesen will be released later this month.


Denmark at Eurovision


Denmark made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957. They have competed 52 times and have won on three occasions with Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann in 1963 with Dansevise, The Olsen Brothers in 2000 with Fly on the Wings of Love and most recently with Emmelie de Forest in 2013 with Only Teardrops. Last year Denmark was represented by SABA with Sand which failed to qualify to the final.
