Eurovision 2024: Which gender likes which songs more?



Yesterday, we revealed the results of our public poll on the Eurovision songs of 2024.


400 people voted in our poll, given 1,993 "televote" points with the majority (67%) from outside Australia.


Baby Lasagna for Croatia took out the top spot and we also revealed the full list from 1st to 37th.


In the poll, we also captured the demographic information of voters so we know break down the results a little further.


Today, we look at which songs were preferred by each gender.


A reminder of what the overall (all genders) Top 10 was


  1. Croatia: Baby Lasagna - 'Rim Tim Tagi Dim'

  2. Netherlands: Joost - 'Europapa'

  3. Switzerland: Nemo - 'The Code'

  4. Italy: Angelina Mango - 'La Noia'

  5. Lithuania: Silvester Belt - 'Luktelk'

  6. United Kingdom: Olly Alexander - 'Dizzy'

  7. Belgium: Mustii - 'Before The Party's Over'

  8. Australia: Electric Fields - 'One Milkali (One Blood)'

  9. Austria: Kaleen - 'We Will Rave'

  10. Ukraine: Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil - 'Teresa & Maria'


The Top 10 of female voters:

So both genders had the same winner. Women put Switzerland ahead of the Netherlands for second place (the men's choice).


Lithuania, Belgium, Australia and Ukraine were all more popular with women while the UK, Austria and Greece were favoured with the men.


Belgium had the biggest difference within the Top 10 (Male voters 10th and Female voters 6th).


The top songs women love more than men:


Finland: Windows95Man - 'No Rules'

Female: 12th | Male: 24th (+12 places difference)



Denmark: Saba - 'Sand'

Female: 13th | Male: 22nd (+9 places difference)


Malta: Sarah Bonnici - 'Loop'

Female: 27th | Male: 36th (+9 places difference)


Georgia: Nutsa Buzaladze - 'Firefighter'

Female: 19th | Male: 27th (+8 places difference)


The top songs men love more than women:


Greece: Marina Satti - 'Zari'

Male: 8th | Female: 20th (+12 places difference)



Sweden: Marcus and Martinus - 'Unforgettable'

Male: 15th | Female: 22nd (+7 places difference)


Cyprus: Silia Kapsis - 'Liar'

Male: 20th | Female: 25th (+5 places difference)


Norway: Gåte – 'Ulveham'

Male: 13th | Female: 18th (+5 places difference)


The songs non-binary and people who use other terms love:


The sample wasn't large enough to do full comparisons, but the top songs from those who identified as non-binary or preferred a different term than male, female or non-binary were. In total, we received 35 "televotes" with these the top four songs:


1st: Netherlands: Joost - 'Europapa'

=2nd: Belgium: Mustii - 'Before The Party's Over'

=2nd: Ireland: Bambie Thug - 'Doomday Blue'

=2nd: Spain: Nebulosa - 'Zorra'


So those were the differences between male and female voters. Watch out for more demographic differences to come on Aussievision social channels.

I'm glad non-binary and other identities were included in the results.

As an Enby, who loves seeing Queer representation, my favourites are:

  1. Switzerland

  2. Belgium

  3. Australia

  4. Ireland

  5. Lithuania
