Writer: Hayley BessellHayley Bessell

We profile the 2025 entry from Poland including details on the artist, song, how it was chosen, odds, fan reaction, and how the nation has fared at Eurovision.

Poland made their Eurovision debut back in 1994 with Edyta Górniak's To Nie Ja! which gave them their best result to date, finishing in a formidable 2nd place. Poland has subsequently entered the Contest 26 times and, since the semi-finals were introduced, has qualified to the Grand Final on 16 occasions.

Their most recent Top 10 result was in 2016 with Michael Szpak's Colour of Your Life, which finished in 8th place after a surprising third place in the televote. After a non-qualification last year with Luna, though, the Polish broadcaster will be hoping to turn their luck around.

Representing Poland at Eurovision 2025 in Basel is Justyna Steczkowska with her song Gaja.

About the Song

Gaja is a powerful ode to the Greek goddess of the Earth, reflecting themes of nature, femininity and spirituality. The lyrics lean towards the complicated relationship that human beings have with the planet.

The song is sung mostly in Polish with one verse towards the end of the song in English:

"They call me Gaia
I'm the love
I'm the life of all imagined
The world drowns as it watches me cry
I'll be holding it close in my arms".

Gaja is best described as a powerful bass heavy dance track with emotive vocals including Justyna's gritty drawn-out screams.

Songwriters on Gaja include Dominic Buczkowski-Wojtaszek, Emilian Waluchowski, Patryk Kumór and Justyna herself. Gaja is a release from her latest album, Witch Tarohoro, which was released in November 2024.

How was Justyna Steczkowska chosen for Eurovision?

Justyna won against 10 other songs in the Polish national final, Polskie Kwalifikacje 2025, held on 14 February 2025. The winner was chosen via a 100% televote where Justyna comfortably won with 39% of the vote.

Justyna did try to represent her country in 2024 where the Polish broadcaster used an internal selection process to select the 2024 entrant. While Luna was chosen to go to Malmo with The Tower, Justyna and her song were lauded by the Eurovision community and her fans, and in the end, she narrowly missed out on going to Malmo by one point.
