Eurovision countries ranked by public votes in the 2020s

Credit: EBU

With four Eurovision Song Contests under our belt since the turn of the decade, we wanted to rank all participating countries since 2021. Which countries fared the best so far, and which countries can look forward to improving their results to finish the 2020s strong?

This particular ranking is based on the amount of public televote points received in all Grand Finals held between 2021 and 2024. Countries participating in at least one Eurovision have been counted.

43rd to 11th

=40. Denmark - 0 points

=40. North Macedonia - 0 points

=40. Montenegro - 0 points

While North Macedonia and Montenegro have not been active in Eurovision since 2022, Denmark has yet to qualify for the Grand FIial this decade. Denmark came closest in 2021 with Fyr og Flamme's Øve os på hinanden, coming 11th in their semi-final.

39. San Marino - 13 points

38. Georgia - 19 points

37. Luxembourg - 20 points

36. Austria - 21 points

35. Australia - 23 points

34. Latvia - 28 points

33. Bulgaria - 30 points

32. Azerbaijan - 36 points

31. Germany - 39 points

---

30. Czechia - 40 points

29. Netherlands - 42 points

Although The Netherlands is currently 29th with 42 points (all of which came from their effort in 2022, after receiving nul points when they hosted in 2021), they qualified for the Grand Final in 2024. Joost Klein's Europapa came 2nd in their public televote-only semi-final. In the lead-up to the 2024 Grand Final, however, he was disqualified from the Grand Final

28. Malta - 47 points

27. Romania - 53 points

26. Slovenia - 57 points

25. Belgium - 63 points

24. Portugal - 92 points

Portugal has gone strength to strength, qualifying for the Grand Final in every Contest since 2021. Buoyed by Maro's saudade, saudade in 2022, Portugal marks the lowest ranking country which qualified all four times in the 20s so far.

23. Albania - 94 points

22. Russia - 100 points

21. Ireland - 136 points

Ireland smashes in at 21st with 136 points, all earned in the 2024 Contest with Bambie Thug's Doomsday Blue. Their success makes Ireland the highest ranking country which qualified only once in the past four years.

20. Cyprus - 146 points

19. Estonia - 153 points

18. Armenia - 156 points

17. Poland - 186 points

16. Iceland - 190 points

15. United Kingdom - 192 points

The United Kingdom comes in 15th with 192 points, notably receiving nul points in both 2021 and 2024. 2nd place finisher Sam Ryder's SPACE MAN in 2022 (The U.K.'s best result since they last hosted in 1998) helped lift the Big 5 member to a mid-table ranking this decade so far.

14. Greece - 221 points

13. Spain - 244 points

12. Serbia - 355 points

11. Lithuania - 362 points

Top 10

10. Moldova - 422 points

9. Switzerland - 422 points

2024 Contest winner Switzerland earned a respectable 226 televote points for Nemo's The Code, but an unfortunate nul points in 2022 drops them into 9th, which is the lowest ranking of the '20s winners so far.

8. Norway - 426 points

7. Croatia - 449 points

Baby Lasagna led a fairytale-style campaign in 2024, winning the televote with a whopping 337 points and giving Croatia its best result since their debut in 1993, finishing 2nd. Despite qualifying only in 2023 and 2024, Rim Tim Dagi Dim helped shoot Croatia into 7th in the '20s.

6. Israel - 528 points

Top 5

5. Sweden - 535 points

Led by Loreen's 2023 win and 243 points with Tattoo, the first repeat winner since the public televote was introduced in 1998, Sweden narrowly enters the top 5 this decade. Cornelia Jakobs' Hold Me Closer in 2022 also scored their highest public televote score (180 points) for Sweden since their previous win in 2015.

4. France - 536 points

Two strong chanson-style songs, Barbara Pravi's Voilà and Slimane's Mon amour, account for 478 of France's 536 televote points this decade. Seeing success with both their national final Destination Eurovision and internal selections, France may be poised for another win soon regardless of their method.

3. Finland - 651 points

Sticking to their rockier roots that earned Finland their first and only win in 2006, Blind Channel started the decade strong with 218 points for Dark Side, and Käärijä won the 2023 televote with 376 points for Cha Cha Cha. Things look up for the country, qualifying four times in a row for the first time since 2006.

2. Italy - 706 points

Since Italy's return in 2011, they have been a powerhouse and leading the way for the rest of the Big 5. Securing their first win since 1990 with Måneskin's Zitti e buoni in 2021, also earning a televote win with 318 points, Italy has managed to keep their televote scores over 100 every Contest this decade.

1. Ukraine - 1,202 points

Ukraine is the only country to have a 100% qualification streak since the Semifinals were introduced in 2004. They are also the second country to secure multiple wins within a 10-year span by lifting the glass microphone trophy in 2016 and 2022. Ukraine's whopping 1,202 points comes out to an average of 300.25 points per Contest this decade.

Kalush Orchestra scored a record breaking 439 points for Stefania in 2022, while Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil scored 307 points for Teresa & Maria in 2024 from position number 2 in the Grand Final, known colloquially as the "death spot" for its traditionally lower scores.
