Finnish broadcaster YLE has announced the lineup for the country's Eurovision selection contest Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), with seven artists to battle it out for a ticket to Basel, Switzerland in May.

A record-breaking 485 entries were submitted for UMK 2025, and the seven finalists were chosen by a professional jury and five audience juries.

The artists competing in UMK 2025 and their songs are:

Neea River: Nightmares

Nelli Matula : Hitaammin Hautaan

Costee: Sekaisin

Delay: Aina

One Morning Left: Puppy

Goldielocks : One Of

Erika Vikman : Ich Komme

All of the finalists are new faces to UMK, except for Vikman. She was runner-up in the 2020 contest with her song Cicciolina, and she also teamed up with 2023 winner Käärijä for his song Ruoska, which was performed at the interval at last year's contest.

Two of the acts also have links to Eurovision artists. Neea River wrote a song with Poland's 2023 representative Blanka, while One Morning Left have previously toured Europe with Finland's 2021 representive Blind Channel.

The seven songs and their music videos will be released one at a time, in the order above, through the UMK YouTube channel at midnight local time from 9 to 17 January. That converts to a convenient 9am the next day here in Australia. Look out for the clips to also be added to this story as they drop.

UMK 2025 will be held at the Nokia Arena in Tampere on Saturday 8 February (early on the morning of Sunday 9 February in Australia). Local fans who tune into the online stream of the contest are also likely to get the rare luxury of a dedicated English commentary from YLE.

The contest will be hosted by popular Finnish female artist SANNI and youth presenter Jasmin Beloued. The winner will be chosen from a 75/25 split of votes from the public and seven international juries.

UMK has become one of the most popular national selection contests in recent years after the introduction of its new format in 2020, and the success of its 2023 winner and eventual Eurovision runner-up Käärijä.

Last year the contest was won by Windows95Man and his track No Rules, which placed 19th for Finland at Eurovision 2024. Other past winners include rock bands Blind Channel (2021) and The Rasmus (2022).
