This weekend, Germany will hold its national final Chefsache ESC 2025 – Wer singt für Deutschland?

The winner will represent the Big 5 nation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel.

Twelve members of the Aussievision team ranked the nine competing entries and here are the results!

9. Benjamin Braatz - Like You Love Me (43 points)

Highs: 10 points from Hayley, 6 points from Tim

Lows: 1 point from Craig, Troy and John Christian

"Look I really do not like country music (sorry Dale!) but what a great voice! This is a really quality entry and right now with the girl bangers and fun acts already on the bill for Basel, this could work. It would definitely pop."

8. Leonora - The Bliss (48 points)

Highs: 12 points from Fleur, 8 points from John Christian

Lows: 1 point from Sam, Dale, Joel and Tim

"With so many female bangers qualifying for Eurovision this year, Leonora gives us a much needed jazzy ballad.

It's performed well enough with her German accent coming through for an authentic touch. I would love for this to go through." ~ Fleur

7. Julika - Empress (50 points)

Highs: 8 points from Craig, 6 points from Jamie and John Christian

Lows: 2 points from Sam and Liv

6. Lyza - Lovers on Mars (70 points)

Highs: 12 points from Dale, 10 points from John Christian

Lows: 2 points from Troy, 3 points from Tim and Liv

"I am probably giving my 12 points based more on the studio of this song because I just absolutely adore it. It's a sweet little pop song I just keep going back to and it's constantly stuck in my head. I do think Lyza was a little nervous in the semi so hopefully she can smash out a better performance in the final." ~ Dale

"I have nothing to say about this except the fact that Germany has not sent a solo female artist since 2016, and I think it might break its long streak. Why would anyone underestimate this? That's a question only me cannot answer, but I think it might get to the mid-table in May if this was the entry. We've seen the likes of Patty Gurdy and Marie Reim getting robbed of that chance, this might be the compensation." ~ John Christian

5. Cosby - I'm Still Here (71 points)

Highs: 12 points from Caig, 10 points from Liv and Emma

Lows: 2 points from John Christian, 3 points from Sam and Fleur

"It took a few listens for it to fully click with me but this has a warm familiarity about it!" ~ Liv

"Cosby's voice got me listening properly to the lyrics of I'm Still Here straight away which I don't often do. I love her storytelling and the way she looks lost in the moment as if she is performing for herself rather than anyone else. This looks great on stage and would offer something that we don't already have in the competition so far." ~ Emma

4. The Great Leslie - These Days (75 points)

Highs: 12 points from Emma, 10 points from Dale, Sam and Troy

Lows: 2 points from Craig, Hayley and Joel

"This is right up my alley...I love the 90's/00's Britpop vibes going on here and the message of the song. I don't know if the German public will go for this but it would definitely stand out from the other songs we have seen selected so far." ~ Emma

It is great to see three rock songs make the German final, given the country has produced so many great acts in this genre. I think The Great Leslie has the most unique and catchy sound out of the three. There will be Maneskin comparisons if this go through, and they aren’t as good as the Italians. But if this can get Stefan Raab smiling and clapping along, that is a good sign!" ~ Sam

"This is kind of like a modern-day German Eurovision take on British punk. Bold performance with bold colours, would need a lot of tidying up but I can totally see this on the Eurovision stage and I enjoy the song." ~ Dale

"This is me at 20. Obsessed with this indie sound! It reminds me of a cross between The Hives and the Arctic Monkeys! I love this. Can someone help me apply my guyliner? I'm a bit out of practise." ~ Troy

3. Moss Kena - Nothing Can Stop Love (78 points)

Highs: 12 points from Sam, 10 points from Jamie, Joel and Fleur

Lows: 1 point Liv, 2 points form Tim and Dale

"On paper this performance shouldn’t work. Yes the song, outfit and performance all have a dated, faded “rocker” feel. But that is part of the appeal! The fact that piano is the only instrument in this piece highlights its purity, simplicity and sincerity. Moss has by far the best voice in the competition, and conveys this song with such pristine, raw emotion. In a Eurovision year where there are many female, up-tempo entries leading the way – this beautiful male ballad could stand out. I actually love the baby blue outfit too. Also Stefan Raab gave this song a standing ovation – just saying!" ~ Sam

"The complete polar opposite to my 12 points song, but this ballad really grows on me. If it makes it to Eurovision, the juries would love this." ~Jamie

"Sometimes you’ve just gotta vote for the beautiful songs! This stripped-back piano ballad captivated me from the first note. This needs better staging if it’s going to be in with a chance though - I’m seeing a backing choir, more smoke and an elevator platform to raise him off the stage for the final powerful moments." ~ Joel

"He has a unique voice and it's a well sung ballad. It is by no means original but it has potential for the grand final at Eurovision. No doubt Stefan Raab will cast some magic on this in Basel." ~ Fleur

2. Feuerschwanz - Knightclub (84 points)

Highs: 12 points from John Christian, Jamie, Joel, Tim, 8 points from Liv

Lows: 1 point from Fleur and Hayley

"Yeah this is pretty good. I can understand why some might dislike it due to its gimmicky nature but this sounds really good and for some reason distinctively German. It’s comedic rock so if this was to win, this could do anything in May. I think with public support, this should be very popular." ~ Tim

"This song is pure Eurovision gold—an electrifying mix of power and spectacle. Among all the German entrants, it had the most jaw-dropping staging, from the golden laser beams slicing through the air to the guitars literally shooting sparks. It is a visual and musical feast, and I am absolutely here for it!" ~ Joel

"This is the genre that I really like. At the moment, the Eurovision selections are missing some heavy rock songs such as this. Hopefully if they win Chefsache, they can finish on the left hand side of the leaderboard." ~ ~ Jamie

"It's the only strong song left, because some fan favorites such as From Fall to Spring and Cloudy June are out. It's better than Lord of the Lost, and I hope this would definitely keep Germany in contention for a strong Top 10 finish. Don't sleep on them, for sure." ~ John Christian

1. Abor and Tynna - Baller (93 points)

Highs: 12 points from Hayley, Liv and Troy, 10 points from Craig and Tim

Lows: 1 point from Jamie and Emma

"After looking up the lyrics I was surprised the song didn't mean what I initially thought it did! "Baller" certainly has a pretty distinct feeling for native English speaker but I was pleasantly surprised by the lyricism of the entry." ~ Liv

"This clever ear worm is the most contemporary offering I think Deutschland has had in a national final in a long long time. It's the classical sound overlayed with hooky vocals and a danceable beat. This would fit right in on Triple J. With an equally clever staging concept this could grow a healthy following around it. They deliver it so well live, as well!" ~ Troy

"I don't even know how to describe why I like this song, but it is definitely my fave from the bunch this year. Maybe it's because it reminds me of the Hammer Lady song. Would this work at Eurovision? Probably not... but I still enjoy it." ~ Hayley

"I really like the different style that this song presents itself as. I can here being played in a German (k)nightclub and being quite popular. It should also be consider that Basel is mostly a German speaking city so this could be popular with the locals too. Yeah I’ll keep listening to this after the contest." ~ Tim
