Italy: RAI reveal 30 artists for Sanremo 2025

Sanremo Music Festival is a cultural phenomenon in Italy - spanning five nights and is the selection process for Italy's Eurovision participant for 2025. This year marks the 75th edition of the famed event.

The festival will run nightly from February 11 to 15, at approximately 9pm CET locally. RAI (Radiotelevisione italiana) is the Italian broadcaster of both Sanremo and Eurovision and hosts the coverage.

The competition faces a significant change to this year's edition. Beloved artistic director and host Amadeus has stepped down from his role to be replaced by Carlo Conti - a former artistic director of Sanremo from 2015 to 2017. Additionally, Alessandro Cattelan is set to co-host on the final evening, he is also known for hosting Eurovision 2022 alongside Laura Pausini and Mika.

Format & Rule Changes

Unlike recent editions, the cover night's scores will not be added to the results of previous nights. Additionally, on the final night, after the first round of voting closes a Top 5 shall be announced, followed by a second round of voting that will be added to the first round results. Therefore, both rounds of voting are taken into account and the best result overall scorer will win Sanremo 2025.

Rule changes have been made to the festival this year— the Newcomer section will be separated from the main competition, last seen at the 2021 edition. The top four Newcomer artists of the selection competition Sanremo Giovani will compete in a dedicated section during Sanremo. The final of Sanremo Giovani takes place on 18 December 2024 to finalise the final four artists.
