Australia's 2018 Junior Eurovision representative Jael Wena has made it through to the Semi-Final of 'The Voice Australia' this evening.

Whilst most Australian Eurovision fans were watching the prime time broadcast of the Eurovision Grand Final on SBS, over on Channel 7 Jael was battling it out with teammate Richard Tunami from Team Jess Mauboy.

Singing Michael Jackson's 1984 hit 'Thriller', it was an epic battle between the two artists. Coach Keith Urban told Jael after the battle she was a "stellar singer" but noted Richard had made it hard for coach Jess to make a decision. Coach Guy Sebastian said Jael took it to the next level and really shone but added that Richard was also outstanding. It was a tough decision but coach Jess declared Jael the winner!

However in a twist to the Battle round rules this year, a win does not automatically mean progression to the Semi-Finals.

With each team still having six members left, coaches have divided their teams into three Battle pairs. One of the three Battle winners moves straight to the semi-final whilst the other two must sing-off against each other.

And luckily for Jael, Jess Mauboy chose her as the lucky team member to progress straight through to the semi-final. Upon Jess's announcement Jael said:

"I'm so thankful that you believe in me...thank you so much, like this means the world to me!"

There are now only two artists left on each coach's team. The remaining eight artists will compete for a place in the Grand Final in next week's Semi-Final airing on Sunday 22nd May on Channel Seven.

At just 12 years old, Jael finished third for Australia at Junior Eurovision 2018 with her song 'Champion', the equal highest finish for Australia after Isabella Clarke's 3rd place in 2017.
