About the artist: Nikol Çabeli
Nikol Çabeli has enjoyed singing, dancing and playing the piano since she was very young. The 13 year old was born in Ioannina and now lives in the southern Albanian city of Gjirokaster.
After finishing runner-up in last year's Albanian national final for Junior Eurovision, Junior Eurofest 2023, this year she took the title, beating seventeen other young singers.
Apart from singing she also enjoys playing the drums and volleyball.
About the song: Vallëzoj
Vallëzoj, composed by Endri Muçaj and Eriona Rushiti, was the winning song at Albania's Junior national selection program Junior Eurofest.
Meaning 'dance' in English, Vallëzoj is a song about enjoying the colour that plants and flowers bring to our lives and protecting nature. As with previous Junior Eurovision entries from Albania, it is sung entirely in Albanian.
Songwriter Eriona is no stranger to Eurovision and Junior Eurovision. She was the composer and lyricist of Albania's 2023 entry in the Eurovision Song Contest Duje by Albina & Familja Kelmendi as well as 2019 entry Ktheju tokës by Jonida Maliqi. She also wrote the lyrics for Albania's 2023 Junior entry Bota Ime by Viola Gjyzeli.
Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest
Albania debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, where they came 12th with Igzidora Gjeta's Kam një këngë vetëm për ju. They then withdrew from the competition for two years, returning in 2015. They have competed in every edition since with the exception of 2020, where they withdrew due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Only two of their nine entries have finished in the Top 10, with their best result being Mishela Rapo's 2015 entry Dambaje which finished in 5th place.
