Junior Eurovision 2024 Armenia profile: 'Cosmic Friend' by Leo

This year, Armenia will be represented at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest by Leo with his song Cosmic Friend. You can find details on the entry, the artist, and the history of Armenia at Junior Eurovision below.

About the artist: Leo

10-year-old Leo's passion for music comes naturally. He grew up in a family of singers, so music has always been part of his life. Leo began entertaining since he could talk at eight months old, and his first performance was at the prestigious Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, when he was just one year old. Leo's favourite artists are Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, and Teddy Swims. As well as singing, Leo enjoys football, reading, and writing stories that fuel his vivid imagination.

Leo was selected to represent Armenia at the 2024 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Madrid, Spain, through open auditions and a detailed selection process, curated by an expert focus group of Armenian and international industry professionals.

Taking part in Junior Eurovision has been a lifelong dream for Leo, with the young musician saying:

“I love my country and the world of music. Representing Armenia on an international stage through music is both joyful and incredibly responsible. I was taught to always believe in myself and I am sure that each and every human has a great power to reach for their dreams!"

About the song: Cosmic Friend

Cosmic Friend tells the story of an intergalactic friendship that knows no boundaries, spreading across the cosmos. The music for the song was composed by tokionine (David Badalyan), with lyrics by Maléna, who won the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Armenia, and Vahram Petrosyan, who co-wrote Maléna's Junior Eurovision-winning song Qami Qami.

Leo said, enthusiastically:

"I’m very happy about the premiere of the song. It’s about my alien friend. The filming of the video was fun and it felt like a dream. It is my first video, and I really like the result. I look forward to your feedback!"

Armenia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Armenia has participated in the Junior Song Contest almost every year since their debut in 2007, withdrawing only once in 2020. With two victories in 2010 and 2021, five second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes, the Caucasus nation has finished in the top three in over 60% (10 out of 16) of the contests they have appeared in to date.

Armenia competed in last year's contest Nice with the Yan Girls singing 'Do It My Way', finishing in 3rd place out of 16 entries with 180 points. Can Leo and his 'Cosmic Friend' continue Armenia's success at Junior Eurovision and give the country its third win?

This year, Armenia will perform 4th in the running order, following Albania and preceding Cyprus.
