This year Germany will be represented by Bjarne with Save the Best for Us.

You can find details on the entry, the artist, and the history of Germany at Junior Eurovision below.

About the artist: Bjarne

10-year-old Bjarne was a semi-finalist in his country’s latest edition of The Voice Kids, where he was coached by none other than 2010 Eurovision Song Contest winner Lena Meyer-Landrut. He hails from the northwestern town of Diepholz, Lower Saxony.

After showing an aptitude for music, Bjarne’s grandmother encouraged him to pursue his talent further and he subsequently took singing and guitar lessons. Bjarne’s first big performance was at age 6 when he performed Dance Monkey by Tones and I in front of a crowd of 300 people at a sports event.

When he’s not performing, Bjarne enjoys cooking, dancing and trampolining. His favourite subjects at school are geography and history. Bjarne is also no stranger to social media with around 219,000 followers on Instagram and 267,000 followers on TikTok.

Bjarne secured his ticket for Madrid after winning the German national final, in which he won both the jury and public votes. He is the first male act to represent Germany at Junior Eurovision.

About the song: Save the Best for Us

"Save the Best for Us" was written by Ignacio Uriarte, Kai Oliver Krug and Thomas Meilstrup. The latter is a protegé of Tim Schou, lead singer of the Danish band ‘A Friend in London’ who placed fifth at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Meilstrup is the son of 1983 Danish Eurovision representative and Dansk Melodi Grand Prix regular Gry Johansen-Meilstrup.

The song is a mid-tempo ballad about saving the environment and is performed in German and English.

At Junior Eurovision 2024, Germany will perform 11th in the running order.

Germany in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

A relative newcomer to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Germany made their debut in 2020. This year will be their fourth participation in the contest.

Germany’s best result is 9th place in 2023 with Fia and the song Ohne Worte (‘Without Words’), which received 107 points in Nice.
