This year, Ukraine will be represented at Junior Eurovision 2024 by Artem Kontenko with ‘Hear Me Now'.

You can find details on the entry, the artist, and the history of Ukraine at Junior Eurovision below.

About the artist: Artem Konteko

Artem Kontenko is a 12-year-old performer from Okhtyrka, a city in Sumy Oblast, Ukraine near to Kharkiv.

He won Ukraine's national selection for Junior Eurovision 2024 and is excited to be joining the Eurovision family after missing out during last year’s competition. Artem has been an avid fan of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since 2019 and loves to watch it with his family.

He has faced challenges in developing his musical talents due to living in a frontline city as part of the war in Ukraine. However, he has continued to enjoy his passions for singing, theatre, piano and dancing despite the conflict.

About the song: Hear Me Now

'Hear Me Now’ originally titled ‘Dim’ (which means "home" in Ukrainian) is written by Svitlana Tarabarova. She has served as the music producer for the Ukraine junior national selection competition since 2023 and was a part of the writing team for ‘Kvitka’ last year.

‘Hear Me Now’ is a song celebrating home and community with some impressive vocal notes spread all throughout this upbeat ballad, showing off high quality vocal talent from the young performer.

Kontenko dedicated his national final performance to his uncle in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, highlighting that the song’s message means a lot to him and his family due to the conflict’s hardships.

Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest

Ukraine has competed at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since 2006 and has had some significant success during this lengthy period of participation.

Ukraine's last victory in this competition was in 2012, with the song 'Nebo', performed by 10-year-old Anastasiya Petryk. Last year, Ukraine placed an impressive 5th place with their song ‘Kvitka’ by Anastasia Dymyd.

Ukraine has also had the opportunity to host the competition twice in 2009 and 2013, both times in Kyiv.

We can’t wait to see Artem celebrate his hard work with the Eurovision community in Madrid!
