No stranger to EMA, Klemen Slakonja has hosted the national final four times in 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2020. He famously recreated every Slovene entry in their first 25 years in the Eurovision Song Contest in his most recent occasion.
A product of the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film, and Television Ljubljana, this is the first time that the 39 year old has contested EMA himself. Other than singing and presenting, Slakonja is an actor and comedian having created over 100 impersonations of famous people including Slovene philosopher Slavoj Žižek, Pope Francis, Vladimir Putin, Donald & Melania Trump, Bono, Tina Turner, Jamie Oliver, Shakira and Angela Merkel to name a few.
This will be Slovenia's 30th appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest after making their debut in 1993. Their highest placing is 7th which they achieved on two occasions, Darja Švajger with Prisluhni mi in 1995 and Nuša Derenda with Energy in 2001. Last year, their representative Raiven finished in 23rd place with Veronika.
