This weekend sees the final of Norway's Melodi Grand Prix (MGP), where the nation will decide its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
This year nine songs are in the running to be crowned the winner of MGP 2025.
The final will be on Saturday 15 February (19:50 CET) in Europe or Sunday 16 February (5:50 AEDT) in Australia.
Ahead of the event, 14 members of the Aussievision team ranked the 9 entries to decide our winner and here are the results:
9. Nora Jabri - Sulale (46 points)
Highs: 6 points John Christian, Saskia & Sam.
Lows: 1 point Liv, Jamie, Joel & Dale.
8. Bobbysocks - Joyful (50 points)
Highs: 12 points John Christian. 10 points Craig.
Lows: 1 point Hayley, Sam & Kiel.
"I know some of the fandom hates this because it is unfit for the modern Eurovision, but there are some who liked it because of the name recognition. If it goes to Eurovision, it would be exactly four decades since their victory and I think they might win again. Some of the Eurofandom are craving for nostalgia, and this might be it." ~John Christian
"Absolute nonsense - but if Norway's going to bomb out, at least do it in memorable fashion." ~Craig
7. Sondrey - Vagabond (60 points)
Highs: 10 points Cooper, Fleur & Saskia.
Lows: 1 point John Christian, Craig & Tim.
"There is a sort of Weeknd vibe to this song. I don't mind it at all. It may not do much damage at Eurovision but it may have a fighting chance to just qualify for the final." ~Cooper
"Not very competitive but fits in nicely in my playlist. Great beat and vocals but maybe requires a revamp for more progression throughout the song." ~Saskia
"Sondrey returns with a better song than his previous one but he's still not there yet. This song is pleasant enough but it's better suited to radio than the Eurovision stage. Still, it is my second favourite in this year's MGP contest." ~Fleur
6. Wig Wam - Human Fire (71 points)
Highs: 10 points Jamie & Hayley. 8 points Joel & Tim.
Lows: 1 point Cooper & Saskia.
"It is awesome to see Wig Wam back together after a 20 year absence from Eurovision. This song brings so many memories back of listening to glam rock in the 90s. Even though I think that either Nataleen or Kyle Alessandro will win MGP, my heart is wanting Wig Wam to get through." ~Jamie
"This is so daggy but somehow still so good. If you love your 80s/90s hair rock, this may be the song for you!" ~Hayley
5. Ladybug - Hot as Hell in Paradise (79 points)
Highs: 12 points Tim. 10 points Dale. 8 points Emma & Hayley.
Lows: 2 points Jamie & Saskia.
"There’s a lot happening and it seems like a decent pop song. It has a good hook and It’s probably the only one that really stands out among the competing songs. I think it’s has a lot of potential for staging and should be considered a favourite for going to Basel for Norway" ~Tim
"There's a kind of Army of Lovers meets a bit of Scandi Lady Gaga about it, it has impact and could come across well live." ~Dale
4. LLL - Parasite (88 points)
Highs: 12 points Saskia & Kiel. 10 points Tim.
Lows: 1 point Emma. 2 points Craig.
"I kind of can't stop listening to this. I don't know if it's good, but that is the truth." ~Saskia
"This is a super slick electro pop banger that keeps revealing more surprises and pleasant beats to keep you hooked as it goes along. It feels like a turbocharged version of We Are Domi's Lights Off from Chechia a few years ago. The staging potential here is enormous especially if they turn up the strobe lights when that chorus drops. This doesn't feel like a conventionally structured track which could really stand out and show a different side of Norway. Get around it." ~Kiel
"I like this song just because it has a lot of components to it. I think it sounds a bit older ( so therefore modern for Eurovision), compared to other entries this season. It would have been a contender for the win in 2010. However it’s here now and competing in the present. It’s got a decent beat which definitely carries the song. Should get a decent in the selection" ~Tim
3. Nataleen - The Game (97 points)
Highs: 12 points Liv, Jamie Craig & Sam. 8 points Cooper, Kiel & Dale.
Lows: 1 point Fleur. 2 points Hayley.
"For the people who mourned Lorena Bućan and Tower of Babylon flopping in Croatia in 2019 - we are so back baby!! This is a more powerful twist on the concept with a nice drop of Queen of Kings with that booming beat. Nataleen has given herself a huge vocal challenge here but if she can pull it off live I have no doubt this will be at the pointy end of results come Saturday night." ~Liv
"This song is the best of what is not a strong MGP this year. Nataleen has a similar sound to Alessandra's Queen of the Kings, which is attributed to the same songwriters. Got to love the countdown from 10, 9, 8..... Run." ~Jamie
"This is the only one of these songs that doesn't make me want to run to the hills." ~Craig
2. Kyle Alessandro - Lighter (101 points)
Highs: 12 points Cooper, Emma & Joel. 8 points Liv, Fleur, Craig, Saskia & Sam.
Lows: 3 points Dale, Tim & John Christian
"This is by far the standout choice in a crowd of songs that are the musical equivalent of sad cold limp spaghetti. Is it an Aldi version of a Marcus and Martinus song? Yes. Is it all we have? Also yes." ~Cooper
"This song is easily the standout of the pack, but I can’t help feeling like it’s missing something. It’s smooth and easy to listen to, but it doesn’t bring anything particularly new. Norwegian entries usually have a unique spark, and that magic just isn’t shining through this time." ~Joel
"Everything has been thrown at this and I'm not 100% sure it all works yet somehow I still think this is the song for Norway. Kyle has a Shawn Mendes like voice which lends itself well to the softer verses that were inspired by his mother's cancer battle. Throw in an anthemic pre-chorus, a tropical pop chorus, a medieval dance break and a stripped back piano only bridge. Is it too much? Probably, but there's limitless staging potential here and I can't wait to see the live performance." ~Emma
1. Tone Damli - Last Song (121 points)
Highs: 12 points Fleur, Hayley & Dale. 10 points John Christian, Liv, Emma, Joel, Sam & Kiel.
Lows: 4 points Craig & Saskia
"Last Song sounds like the latest Dua Lipa release. It's incredibly well-produced and radio friendly and (random fact) was co-written by Sophie Simmons, the daughter of KISS's Gene. I don't know if it would trouble the scoreboard at Eurovision but it's an enjoyable listen and deserves to do well as a studio track." ~Emma
"Tone Damli is a staple of the Norwegian music scene for many years now and I'm delighted to see her at MGP with this fluffy little bop. Is it the most original song ever? No. Does it make me want to drink chardonnay and dance around my house? Yes. I've thrown it back to this more times than I can count at this point. Bloody love it." ~Liv
"This one is catchy and for me the most memorable song in this national final. This is not original in the slightest but it's a harmless bop and will be fun at Eurovision parties at least. I just wished that Tone Damli had more to work with." ~Fleur
"Ok yes this is a generic pop song from the 2000s. But the hook in the chorus is so infectious. Ironic that Last Song is the first song in the running order, and it will be a tough challenge winning from that position. But Kant opened the show in Malta last week, so fingers crossed the trend continues!" ~Sam
"I think 12 points for this song because it feels like a Ru Paul Drag Race lip-sync song! Some of those lyrics are quite questionable!" ~Hayley
"This is a just good pop song done well. It's not doing too many things new and I'm not sure it's the best thing to send to Eurovision but I can't get that chorus out of my head." ~Dale
So there you have it, Tone Damli is our favourite ahead of Kyle Alessandro which is the current bookies' favourite.
