The BBC has just announced on BBC Radio 2 that Remember Monday will represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2025.
They will be performing the song What the Hell Just Happened?
The news comes after the UK's Eurovision Head of Delegation Andrew Cartmell said in an exclusive interview with The Euro Trip: “What we’re doing this year is a very different style and sound to the last couple of years.”
When asked about the song's genre, he told them:
“The last couple of years has been dance-pop, I guess. We are doing something different to that.
“There’s an essence of Britishness in the song.”
Sam Ryder's former manager David May, who has also been leading the search for the UK's act for Basel, added:
“We’re going back to the UK heritage of music; threads of what we do best. And I think we’ve encapsulated that."
“I think the world wants to see that. There’s things that we do very, very well musically, it’s very, very broad, but we do it very well, and that’s what we wanted to bring to the table.”
Who is Remember Monday?
Remember Monday is a three-member country pop trio composed of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele.
The trio met in sixth form and have been friends ever since, making music together every Monday.
The group rose to fame by participating in Series 8 of The Voice UK in 2019, being eliminated before the live shows.
Since then, they have released an EP titled Crazy Anyway, performed live across the UK, and amassed over 500,000 followers on TikTok.
The band describes themselves as "pop girlies with a lil bit of yeehaw", and has described their sound as "a blend of modern and classic country, with a touch of pop and rock".
They have also said that they want to "bring joy and positivity to people through their music".
The songwriters of What the Hell Just Happened?
Among the songwriters are Remember Monday themselves, plus Danes involved with Eurovision and local Briitish artists. They are:
