In the early hours of the morning in Australia, Senhit released ‘Adrenalina’, which will represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam with a surprising collaboration!
Senhit was originally intended to be San Marino’s representative to the Eurovision Song Contest last year, before it was ultimately cancelled. Sammarinese broadcaster SMRTV internally selected her last year, with the song ‘Freaky!’ beating out rival ‘Obsessed’ in an online poll to select her Eurovision entry.
Her Eurovision 2021 entry ‘Adrenalina’ sees Senhit go back to her roots. She incorporated two instruments from her parent’s home country of Eritrea, they were blended into the song's mix. They are the krar (a bowl-shaped lyre) and the kebero (double-headed, conical hand drum) can be heard throughout the track.
In a statement with eurovision.tv Senhit said:
“I always want adventure, excitement, new experiences and to live at 360 degrees! ‘Adrenalina’ represents me best with its mix of international electro-pop and refined sounds of instruments that come from Eritrea! That’s why I’ve decided to take it to the Eurovision stage.”
A surprising addition to the song is the addition of the American rapper Flo Rida. Flo Rida is no stranger to working with Eurovision stars, he has previously collaborated with Australia’s Jessica Mauboy on her single 'Running Back'. The question remains will we see him on the Eurovision stage?
The Team San Marino explained:
"Flo Rida has been a part of the production and is featured in the music video, but it's yet to be decided if he will take part on stage in Rotterdam. The rap part will either way remain."
Born in Bologna, Italy, Senhit Zadik began her career by performing in musicals like ‘Fame’, ‘The Lion King’, and ‘Hair’ in Switzerland and Germany, before returning to Italy to perform music. She previously represented San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf in 2011 with ‘Stand By’, which failed to qualify for the final.
Starting in July last year, Senhit started releasing music video covers of famous Eurovision songs in a project called #FreakyTriptoRotterdam. These covers have included Teo’s ‘Cheesecake’, Sertab Erener’s 2003 winning entry ‘Everyway That I Can’, Teach-In’s 1975 winning Eurovision song ‘Ding-a-Dong’, Cliff Richard’s ‘Congratulations’, Conchita Wurst’s ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’, Salvador Sobral’s ‘Amar Pelos Dois’, ABBA’s iconic ‘Waterloo’, Koza Mostra and Agathonas Iakovidis’s ‘Alcohol is Free’, and a mashup of Netta's 'Toy' and Nadav Guedj's 'Golden Boy'.
Senhit will be performing in the first half of the second semi final at Eurovision.
