Ukrainian broadcaster Suspline today announced the 10 competing acts in their Eurovision national selection process for 2024.
The artists include MÉLOVIN who competed for Ukraine at Eurovision 2018 as well as Jerry Heil who has competed at Vidbir previously.
The full lists of artists competing in the process 'Vidbir' and the titles of the songs:
Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil - 'Teresa & Maria'
Drevo - 'Endless chain'
INGRET - 'Keeper'
MÉLOVIN - 'DREAMER'
NAHABA - 'GLASSS'
NAZVA - 'Slavic English'
SKYLERR - 'Time is running out'
YAGODY - 'Tsunamia'
YAKTAK - 'Lalala'
Ziferblat - 'Place I Call Home'
These ten artists will be joined by a "wildcard" entry, which is to be voted upon by the public in the near future.
Vidbir 2024 will take place in February. The winner will be chosen by a 50/50 combination of votes from an expert jury and a public televote.
The Competing Artists:
Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil - 'Teresa & Maria'
Jerry Heil returns to Vidbir a year after just missing out on the ticket to Liverpool with her entry, 'When god shuts the door', which finished in third place. The former Youtuber turned pop star will be joined by Ukrainian rapper, Alyona Alyona. After her breakthrough in the Ukrainian music scene in 2019, Alyona has since released three albums and received numerous accolades including Ukraine's 'Best New Artist'.
Drevo - 'Endless chain'
Drevo is a fresh artist in the Ukrainian music industry. His first single was released earlier this year and has dropped a further five singles throughout 2023. Currently racking up a sizeable 37,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, Drevo's distinct alt-pop rock style will make a scene at Vidbir 2024.
INGRET - 'Keeper'
INGRET returns to Vidbir after competing in the national final back in 2018 with 'Save my planet' where she missed out on qualifying to the final of the selection. Other than Vidbir, INGRET has also competed in the X-Factor Ukraine and finished as the runner-up on the Voice of Ukraine 2018.
MÉLOVIN - 'DREAMER'
Probably the most familiar name to people outside of Ukraine is former Eurovision entrant, MÉLOVIN. After winning Vidbir 2018, MÉLOVIN took his entry 'Under the ladder' to Lisbon where he qualified to the final and ultimatly finished in 17th place with 130 points. Since Eurovision, MÉLOVIN has released a whopping 15 singles and is now preparing to return to vidbir with a new track titled 'DREAMER'
NAHABA - 'GLASSS'
NAHABA may be one of the lesser known acts competing in Vidbir 2024 but they're not one to be underestimated. The bands sound fuses haunting vocals with heavy rock to create a truley unique sound. Whatever it may be that they have planned for Vidbir, it will surely make a splash in the competition.
NAZVA - 'Slavic English'
Hailing from Lviv, NAZVA sound has been described as being grounded in alternative rock with a notable power to deliver emotions through their work. The band's work is expressive through their lyricism and instrumentation. With already two criticly-acclaimed albums under their belt, NAZVA is more than capable to deliver on the Vidbir stage.
SKYLERR - 'Time is running out'
Described as a major player in the Ukrainian music scene, SKYLERR is one to watch at Vidbir 2024. With over a quarter of a million followers on Instagram and millions of streams on her discography, She is a massive name in the field. SKYLERR's style is said to blend contemporary pop music with traditional Ukrainian elements to encapsulate the essence of what it means to live in today's world.
YAGODY - 'Tsunamia'
YAGODY is a quarted of four women who's music celebrated the timeless sounds of ethnic Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Whilst realising studio albums, the group have also delved into the world of theatre to create a full experience around their discography.
YAKTAK - 'Lalala'
According to Spotify, YAKTAK is one of the top 3 biggest Ukrainian artists right now. The mainstream pop artist has a whopping half-a-million monthly listeners and almost 400,000 followers on TikTok. YAKTAK's sound is polished, melodic and upbeat with emphasis on wanting listeners to dance along. With the title 'Lalala', his Vidbir entry is sure to continue his trend of incredibly catchy tracks.
Ziferblat - 'Place I Call Home'
Known as Ukrainian 'art rockers', Ziferblat is set to bring their artistic flair to the national final. The trio consists of lead vocalist, Danil and his brother, Val as well as their friend Fedya. The band's discography is packed with impactful tracks inspired by Ukrainian stories and history.
This year an eleventh artist will be chosen via a public vote out of the long-list of artists who haven't already been shortlisted to peform at the Vidbir broadcasted final.
The results of this 'wildcard' vote will be released in late December.
