What's on in January for Eurovision season 2025




With the annual ESC 250 countdown complete, fans can now look ahead to January and the beginning of the true national final season.


Yes, Montenegro and Albania have already had theirs, but January is when we get into the depths of heats, early morning and trying to watch multiple shows in foreign languages at once.


The next two months will be a rollercoaster of emotions as all competing entries will be selected in one way or another.


So, what's on for January?


January 8


The artists competing in Finland's popular UMK national selection will be announced. There's rumours that fan-favourite Erika Vikman who came runner-up in 2020 with Cicciolina may be in the line-up.





January 9


The songs competing in Croatia's national final Dora will be released. The nation is coming off two excellent years, can they back it up for a third.



January 11


Lithuania will hold the first of five heat of its national selection show Eurovizija.LT 2025. Strap in, as it gets weird and wonderful in the Baltic state.



January 14


Artists competing in Poland's national final will be announced.


January 16


Artists competing in Norway's Melodi Grand Prix will be announced.


January 17


Artists and songs for Iceland's Songvakeppnin will be revealed.


January 18


The first of weekend of multiple national final shows at once. Lithuania will hold heat two, Belgium will showcase half of their national final entries and Moldova will hold their infamous auditions for Etapa Națională.


January 25


Luxembourg will host it's national final the Luxembourg Song Contest. The winner will represent the nation in Basel.




Belgium will showcase the second half of their songs and Lithuania will host their third heat.


January 28


The semi-final draw of Eurovision 2025 will be held! This is where we will find out which semi Australia is in and who we are up against.


Spain will host the first of their Benidorm Fest semi-finals





January 29


Tickets for the Eurovision Song Contest go on sale! Luckily we will know which night Australia performs, so you know which semi to target!



January 30


The second semi-final of Spain's Benidorm Fest will be held.


Sneaking ahead, the final will be held on February 1 alongside Belgium and Slovenia who will also choose their acts. Sweden's Melodifestivalen and Latvia's Supernova also start that day.

Greece is holding a full national final for the first time in years. During January the artists competing will be annoucned and the show will take place.


Three Aussies have submitted songs, so we may see them compete!
