Almost five years after the Eurovision movie was released, plans are underway to bring a theatre version to Broadway.
Will Ferrell revealed the plans while on The Graham Norton Show alongside Eurovision artist Olly Alexander.
"We’re trying to develop it into a Broadway show," he said.
"We went with [a] songwriter and director [to Eurovision] as they had never seen it. My wife happens to be Swedish, so Malmo, Sweden, Eurovision... and here we are now."
The movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga, was considered quite the success when released on Netflix in 2020.
Despite only scoring 6.5 out of 10 on International Movie Database (IMDb), the film filled the void of the actual Eurovision Song Contest being cancelled that year.
Many of the catchphrases made their way into popular vernacular including "Play Jaja Ding Dong!" which featured heavily throughout the 2021 Contest in Rotterdam.
The music was also particularly successfull. Húsavík (My Home Town) received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
The tracks racked up tens of millions of streams and the movie received a Grammy nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media.
No news of when the Broadway adaption may hit the stage, but we can't see how it all turns out!
