In the early hours of the Australian morning, Ziferblat has won Ukraine's Eurovision national selection, Vidbir, with their song Bird of Pray.
Ukraine delivered another spectacular edition of Vidbir, where ten acts performed with the hope of being selected to represent Ukraine in Basel at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest.
This year's final was a high-quality affair that saw the popular Ziferblat win with a harrowing progressive rock performance in both English and Ukrainian, and will go on to represent Ukraine in Switzerland.
Whilst Ziferblat did not go into the contest as favourites, their winning song Bird of Pray did consistently sit towards the top of fan polls in the lead-up to Vidbir. Ziferblat took first place in the Ukrainian televote, second with the Ukrainian jury to come first overall with the combined score of 19 points. The contest ended up being an extremely close battle with MOLODI, KHAYAT and fan favourite Masha Kondratenko placing equal second on 16 points each.

The show was opened with an all-star performance by some of Ukraine’s much-loved Eurovision favourites over the years, including alyona alyona & Jerry Heil (2024), TVORCHI (2023), Timofiy Muzichuk of Kalush Orchestra (2022), Katerina Pavlenko of Go_A (2021), MELOVIN (2018), Jamala (2016), Tina Karol (2006) and Ruslana (2004).
The evening went off without a hitch, which was a welcome reprieve from the televoting debacle last year where the voting system crashed almost immediately, unintentionally extending the show by 4 hours whilst voting was restored, and delaying the result by 24 hours.
This was Ziferblat's second attempt at Eurovision, after finishing second in 2024's edition of Vidbir, trailing winners Jerry Heil & Alyona Alyona with Teresa & Maria. The band will now go on to represent Ukraine in Basel at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2025.
